Not everyone has embraced the new MFGT meeting time of 9:00 am, and I have to admit, it was an adjustment for me too, but I have decided I like getting the day underway with a heavy dose of inspiration with my coffee. It was nice to see the newly painted and rearranged Village Fabric Shop. Everyone commented to Amy how spacious the shop felt with the classroom moved to the backroom. Love that coral paint!
Laura Davies was our Spotlight this month and she shared so many of her gorgeous quilts, including the first quilt she made for her daughter. I think it takes a fair amount of bravery and patience to start with applique, but Laura gets an idea and tackles it until she reaches the goal - that's her recurring pattern. Don't you love this bunny quilt? So cute.
Once Laura caught the quilting bug, she quickly decided to try her hand at free-motion quilting and eventually purchased a long arm quilting machine and is currently quilting and teaching professionally. Well done Laura! Here are a few more of Laura's quilts:

Amy shares her Color Therapy quilt she started in 2013. So pretty!
Carrie and Tomoe show off their lovely Sampler Blocks.

Pam shares an incredible and enormous Irish Chain quilt she made for a wedding gift for her daughter. Voile on the back ~ yeah! Quilted by Laura.
Miranda shares a cool half circle reversible napkin she likes to make for quick gifts ~ so smart.
Lee shows off one of her pretty awesome quilt patterns ~ love this!
I shared a super easy tote bag pattern, which is perfect for groceries, sewing projects, etc. Download Patchworkpockettote Make one!
I also shared how to make pretty fabric flowers using a little bit of fabric, sticks from the yard and a significant amount of hot glue. I will be doing a Free Demonstration at Village Fabric Shop this Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 am. Stop by and see how easy it is to make a bouquet of gorgeous roses for Mother's Day!
Thank you to Amy, who provides a beautiful place for us to hold our monthly meetings and also takes the photos, and thank you to Pam for bringing coffee and breakfast for everyone. You all are the BEST! If you would like to attend a Modern Fabric Group Therapy meeting, we will meet again on Wednesday, May13th at 9:00 am at Village Fabric Shop. All MFGT members receive a 10% discount off the fabric on meeting days! Hope to see you soon. ox
