The Little General has passed the baton to the incredible Amy Shively, who has been part of the Winston-Salem community since 2011. I couldn't be more excited for Amy and know that she will do amazing things with her NEW cotton empire, VILLAGE FABRIC SHOP!
A little bit about Amy ~ She grew up in Florida and went to school at UNC Chapel Hill, where she received her Nursing degree in 2003. She and her husband Jay, who works as an administrator at Wake Forest Law School have 2 young boys who fill their days with energy and joy. It was after the birth of her 1st son Ford when Amy got the sewing bug. Living in Pennsylvania at the time, Amy taught herself to make lovely handbags and quilts and with the encouragement of her husband Jay, Amy goes on to create her own brand, Amy by the Park. Amy came up with this name for her business after spending many snowy afternoons sewing with the beautiful modern fabrics she loves and watching the local children play outside her back window in Holmes-Foster Park in Stae College, PA.
Keep up with Amy and the shop happenings on her Facebook page. Village Fabric Shop hours are
SUNDAY & MONDAY: Closed
TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY: 10:00 - 4:00 PM
THURSDAY: Noon - 7:00 pm
Amy hopes to continue to provide a fun and relaxed environment for everyone to learn more about creating beautiful things with fabric and to ignite the same passion for creativity. In addition, Amy hopes to provide a space where local artisans can display and sell their goods. Very cool! Make it a priority to visit her new fabric shop in Historic Reynolda Village.
Modern Fabric Group Therapy meeting will be at the Village Fabric Shop on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 9:00 - 10:30 am. If you have never come to a meeting, please feel free to join us for a morning of sewing chatter, show & tell, friendship, encouragement, inspiration, and fun Giveaways.
See you soon, Karen ox...
