Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it somehow feels like the longest. I don't think I'm alone with this thought. Let's try to stay positive ~ Spring is just around the corner. We have to keep hanging on to the hope that the weather will be more predictable and school cancelations will come to an end. 5 more days till we bid farewell to February, we can do it.
Well, I started writing this post yesterday and woke up this morning to school closings and multiple reported road accidents. I really can't believe it.!? The forecast for today was to be a high of 46 and a 10% chance of snow. That has changed to a high of 34 with snow - not any real accumulation, but enough to freak out the town. I expect everything should be fine by late afternoon.
The Little General Fabric Boutique will be changing ownership effective March 1st. I can't believe that it's been almost 3 years since I handed over the keys to the shop to Gina, who has done a remarkable job providing lovely fabrics, incredible classes, and a beautiful shop to visit. Gina has a 19-month-old son and is expecting baby #2 in April + she and her family will be relocating to England in September to continue their adventures. I have so many photos of Gina over the years and will compile a collection to share before March 1st. I will miss seeing Gina's beautiful smile when I visit the shop, although I know she will be handing over the keys to very capable hands. More details on the new shop owner soon!
I do know that the shop will be open Tuesday - Saturday and will be closed on Sunday & Monday, although classes will be in session on Mondays. This means that I will be changing the hours of the Modern Fabric Group Therapy meetings. We will still operate the 2nd Wednesday of every month but will be meeting from 9:00 - 10:30 am instead. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 11th at 9:00 am at the shop. If you haven't been to a MFGT meeting, please join us. Here are a few photos from our February MFGT meeting ~ this bunch is a lot of fun!
Darla was our Spotlight this month. I wasn't doubting that Darla was a talented sewist, but this one has definitely been keeping her skills undercover. Loved learning more about Darla's story and seeing the progression of her sewing journey with the projects she brought to show the group.
Darla shares one of her first quilts she made for her newborn daughter 22 years ago, which I expect is still treasured.
Darla shares a rag lap quilt she made for her grandmother.
Thank you, Darla. You are awesome! Our Project of the Month was Denyse Schmidt's adorable Scottie Dog Pattern. SO cute. Lee won a precut kit to make her very own patchwork puppy. Janet shows off the gorgeous bag Tomoe made her. Good score!
Heather shares a pretty clutch she made using Lee's Pattern. Very nice.
Ann shares her pretty quilt made using her daughter's Lazy Sunday Quilt Pattern Joan shows off her pretty Valentine's she made for her grandchildren using this quick & easy tutorial. Love the heart of cash! Our Block of the Month project is this pretty little Sampler. I love how everyone is giving this project their own little twist. Can't wait to see everyone's finished quilts at the end of the year. Or next month :)
It was fun catching up. Stay warm. Love, Karen ox
February is the cruelest month! But winter is part of our seasons, and it is preparing us to revel in spring!
Cute projects! Hope you are doing well!

Miss seeing you Kelly! I think of you often, especially because I have this beautiful K quilt hanging in my office made by you. I love it. I hope our paths cross soon.
