Hello!
It's been a busy month so far and almost impossible to believe we are going to be wrapping up 2014 soon.... Time seems to move faster and faster. I am going to try to enjoy the moments of life, rather than stress out about not getting everything done on my absurb to-do list. It will be a challenge for sure. Right now I am feeling anxious about all the holiday gifts I want to complete for family & friends. Somehow it all gets done and starting it earlier has never been my thing. A deadline is great motivator for me.
Last week we had our monthly Modern Fabric Group Therapy meeting at The Little General. As usual, it was a tons of fun. I just love the ladies in this group. Everyone is so impressive with their obvious sewing talents, but I mainly love hanging out with this super cool group because of their generous nature to share creative ideas with one another. During the hour and a half meeting we usually have a member Spotlight, a Swap, a Demo, Show & Tell, awesome Giveaways, delicious cookies, endless inpiration, and laughter. I have BIG plans for MFGT 2015 ~ more on that later. Let's talk about last week's MFGT meeting. Tomoe M. was our member Spotlight and for those of you who are aquainted with this astonishing woman, you know that we are dealing with a force/freak of nature.
Tomoe is originally from Japan, but has lived in Winston-Salem for the past 25 years. She is a delightfully warm person who is constantly creating something amazing. Her work is perfection and I have tremendous admiration for her. Tomoe wasn't a crafty child, did not come from a crafty family, she just has an interest to make stuff. One day she wanted to learn how to crochet. She took a class and cranked out this lovely runner and table topper ~ absolutely does not appear to be a beginner project. Am I right?
Tomoe shares her 1st quilt she completed and chuckles over the colors she liked at that stage in her life. Not sure what was funny, I like the colors. I should also note that this quilt was hand quilted. Tomoe also took a beginner watercolor painting class at age 50 and is quite good. Here is one of her 1st paintings ~

Lee shares a pretty clutch she made with Tula Pink fabric, along with some of her original quilt designs that she launched at International Quilt Market last month. Go Lee!
Martha Claire shares a mini version of the COLOR Therapy quilt ~ nice!
Our demo was a drawstring shoe bag made with quilting cotton & voile which could easily be interpreted as a laundry bag, lingerie bag, gift bag, etc.
