Hi there!
I should warn you that this is an incredibly long blog post. You might want to get a cup of coffee or tea and get comfortable. I have attempted to sit down and do this post several times, but obviously have failed until today. I am a little stunned that tomorrow begins August, and with that comes a entirely new list of insanity... good insanity though. Nevertheless, I am committed to sitting in front of my computer to complete this post and feel a little embarrassed that I have kept all these fun details/photos from the MFGT May & June meetings from you until now. Moving forward! In May we had a wonderful meeting with the fabulous Sheri Collette as our Spotlight. Sheri is an amazing long arm quilter, an APQS Authorized Dealer, as well as an inspired long arm teacher, and a wonderful friend. Sheri brought a few of her first quilts to share, along with current quilts.
Our Swap for May was Needlebooks. I shared this precious tutorial and am a little addicted to these little treasures ~ so cute, and they make lovely gifts... an ideal way to use up pretty little fabric scraps. Carole and Jenny with their new Needlebooks

Laura's awesome quilts she made for 2 little boys. I really love these quilts. We wrapped up our May meeting with a binding demo that Joan was generous enough to share with the group. Everyone loves to learn sewing tricks and shortcuts. I was completely fascinated to learn that so many use glue as a regular sewing notion. I am very curious about this and plan to give it a whirl soon. Joan was inspired by this binding tutorial. Thank you Joan. Now let's talk about the MFGT June Meeting; Our Spotlight for June was the talented Janet Sanders. Janet, like many of the ladies who attend therapy, is a perfectionist. Her sewing is impeccable. Janet shared this wonderful photo of herself as a girl with her mother and twin sister. Janet grew up in a family that was quite gifted with the needle and thread.

Sheri is excited about her pretty bundle of fat 1/8ths. Tille is thrilled with her new sewing caddy. We love our Giveaway drawings. The group also enjoys the monthly Swaps. In June, the ladies took the time to make pretty pillows for each other. Very nice work! I'm so impressed with the talent of these wonderful ladies.
At the May meeting I talked about the idea of the group creating a MFGT Sampler Quilt and asked everyone to please contribute a block or 2. I attempted to hang a "design wall" for us to admire all the amazing blocks, but sadly the darn thing kept falling down. I really should have considered bringing some high powered duct tape to help out. At any rate, here is a photo of Tamoe adding her block to the bunch while the wall was still in tact.
I ended up with a total 30 blocks and have completed the official MFGT Sampler quilt. I cannot wait to share it at our August meeting. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the project. I had such a great time putting it together.
As always, we typically save Show & Tell until the very end of our meetings, however, I have I contemplated starting the meetings with this surge of inspiration - my favorite part!
