Hello,
First off - I want to announce that Ann was the big winner today of the Scrap Bundle Giveaway. Congratulations Ann! Thank you for taking the time to visit & comment. I will be sending you a bundle of cotton joy shortly. I know you must be thinking that I am running out of scraps, but I'm not. I don't think I am even to the half way mark in the quilting weight cotton department. Here are a few photos that I received showing some fun projects ~ thank you for sharing ladies.
Here is the photo I kinda promised of the dish towels I made last week for my daughter... which turned into multiple gifts. I am starting to feel a little pressure now that we've hit the mid point of October. It's time to start thinking about the holidays, right? I have a list of gifts I am planning to make and my intention is to share the process with you. I've said it, so now I'm bound. Stay tuned on that front - I am going to do my best.
Flour sack dishtowels that you can buy anywhere, even Ace Hardware - I trim 2 sides of the dishtowel with a 3" strip of fabric. I have made quite a few of these over the years. There is a fair amount of ironing with this project - more than I expect. Definitely another scrap opportunity. Recipients are always happy to receive this gift accompanied with a baked good. Maybe I should bake some cookies..?
I am heading into a different area with my DeStashing Mission: Home Decor weight fabrics and trims; I have an abundance I will be listing in my etsy shop over the next week or so. This is a good opportunity for you to start thinking about sprucing up the house for.... yes, the Holidays. I said it again - now I am feeling stressed. I better go bake cookies. I will take a pic of the batch and share the recipe soon.
A sample of my home decor stash - I'm not kidding when I say that I have 100s of fabrics I need to ship to loving homes. I have estimated the DeStashing process will take me the rest of 2012. I am a little astonished by the amount of fabric I have been hoarding. My husband just peeked into my studio with an expression of shock, "Where did all this come?". Oh well - I hope he doesn't look in the spare bedroom anytime soon.
Have a great week.

Love the idea of the tea towels!! I hadn't thought of doing that with my scraps. Thanks!

Hi Karen, I'm just getting to read your January newsletter. I made tea towels for Christmas gifts also. Several people said that their mothers used them when cookie baking. Hope you are doing well. Linda

Hi Linda,
Great to hear from you! Hope your year is off to a good start.
My grandma used her flour sac towels to take cookie sheets out of the oven too.... She also used them for covering rising yeast dough, dusting around the house and drying dishes. Never really considered how multi-functional these towels really are.
